Music has been a part of my life for well over 40 years, starting when I was inspired in Junior School I used to like to hit the drums. I almost took up the Cello missing out on an instrument was, perhaps, a saving grace for the instrument’s reputation, but I was meant to be a brass player and had the best opportunity anyone could have had when I went to secondary School (St Peter’s Comprehensive). At the time lessons were free and I have the honour of being taught by David Read MBE and also the marvellous Roy Shilling. Sometimes we would get 2 lessons a week!

My first instrument was a very battered Eb horn given to me by Mr Barry Stone after several call-backs to test my resolve.
